How to Generate Realistic Test Data with Mockaroo?

Hey everyone,

I am working on a project where I need a large set of realistic test data, including names, emails, addresses and custom fields. I came across Mockaroo, which looks like a great tool for this. However, I have a few questions :-

What is the best way to generate bulk data in CSV or JSON format with specific constraints: ??
Can I create custom formulas to modify field values dynamically: ??
Is there a way to integrate Mockaroo with an API to fetch data on demand for testing purposes: ??
Are there any free alternatives that offer similar capabilities if I hit Mockaroo’s free tier limits: ??

If anyone has experience using Mockaroo efficiently for large-scale test data generation, I would love to hear your insights !!

Thanks in advance.

Looking forward to your suggestions !!

Yes, but I suggest you start with the easier, built-in capabilities before reaching for custom formulas, esp. if you don’t already know Ruby.

  • Custom Lists
  • Character sequences
  • Dataset Columns
  • Templates

And it is very likely you will need to use hidden fields. Almost all of my more complicated datasets have at least one.

Here, I have no idea. I have not seen anyone using this in the forum, nor have I had to use it.

Not that I know of, which is why I use Mockeroo. I will say that if you need one of more of “large set of realistic test data” frequently, you’re going to hit the limit pretty early, but the free tier is definitely enough to see if the data sets you need to make are possible before shelling out any money.
